چکیده
Ultrahigh-speed continuous casting is a critical element in achieving high-efficiency casting. In the present work, three-dimensional model of 160 mm × billet ultrahigh-speed mold was developed for use studying influences different parameters on molten steel flow. The results showed that flow pattern not associated with its speeds, submerged entry nozzle (SEN) immersion depths, or inner diameters. Variation speeds significantly affected liquid level steel–slag interface. Its fluctuation reasonable at an SEN depth 80 mm. impact reached shallowest point, which conducive to upward movement within high-velocity and high-temperature regions, accelerated floating non-metallic inclusions. Expanding diameter could effectively weaken initial kinetic energy jet. However, it may cause deeper degree raceway, exhibited jet most behavior 40

Mathematical Simulation for the Effects of Flow Control Devices in a Six- strand Tundish in Continuous Casting of Steel Billet
The method of continuous casting of steel is now often used in the metallurgical industry, due to the increasing demand for the production of high – quality steel. An important device of continuous casting machine is the tundish, in which a stabilized steel flow has a crucial effect on the quality and efficiency conditions of the continuous casting process. In this study fluid flows in a six – ...
متن کاملContinuous Casting of Incoloy800H Superalloy Billet under an Alternating Electromagnetic Field
We experimentally investigate the influence of an alternating electromagnetic field on the surface and internal qualities of Incoloy800H superalloy billets. The electromagnetic continuous casting experiments for Incoloy800H superalloy were successfully conducted and the billets (0.1 m ˆ 0.1 m ˆ 1.2 m) were obtained. We figure out that the high frequency (20.4 kHz) electromagnetic field which is...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Macrosegregation during the Direct-Chill Casting of an Al alloy Billet
ABSTRACT Macrosegregation has been received high attention in the solidification modeling studies. In the present work, a numerical model was developed to predict the macrosegregation during the DC Casting of an Al-4.5wt%Cu billet. The mathematical model developed in this study consists of mass, momentum, energy and species conservation equations for a two-phase mixture of liquid and solid in a...
متن کاملModeling of Continuous-Casting Defects Related to Mold Fluid Flow
The quality of continuous-cast steel is greatly influenced by fluid flow in the mold, particularly at the meniscus. Recent examples of computational model applications at the University of Illinois are presented to investigate the formation of several different types of defects related to flow phenomena. The amount of gas injection into the tundish nozzle to avoid air aspiration is quantified b...
متن کاملSimulation of transient fluid flow in mold region during steel continuous casting
A system of models has been developed to study transient flow during continuous casting and applied to simulate an event of multiple stopper-rod movements. It includes four sub-models to incorporate different aspects in this transient event. A three-dimensional (3-D) porous-flow model of the nozzle wall calculates the rate argon gas flow into the liquid steel, and the initial mean bubble size i...
